Policy Pitch on Eradication of the Poliovirus
【Policy Pitch on Eradication of the Poliovirus】
On May 27, 2024, Connor Bender and Chisato Banno, both Associates, participated in a policy pitch event organized by PoliPoli, Inc. Drawing on our advocacy experience with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) at our organization, we presented policy recommendations based on the latest data and political trends. We proposed that the eradication of the polio virus and the revitalization of the Japanese economy could be achieved through the distribution of domestically produced 5-in-1 vaccines (covering polio, diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, and Hib), which became a routine vaccination this fiscal year.
Dr. Katsunobu Kato, former Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare of Japan, along with other generous supporters of the Polio Congress and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, listened to our proposal and provided valuable advice. We will incorporate this feedback as we refine our policy proposal for the next session.
